Garry Lee Evans, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, in Menifee, California, at the age of 70. Born on December 19, 1954, in Ohio, Garry's journey through life was marked by kindness, friendliness, and a remarkable handiness that endeared him to all who knew him.
Garry's formative years were spent in Steubenville, Ohio, where he attended Wintersville High School. After his graduation, he ventured west to Southern California in 1982, a move that would shape the rest of his life. It was there, amidst the sunshine and palm trees, that he not only found a fulfilling career with the County of San Diego as a Senior Equipment Operator but also met the love of his life, Adela Delgado Evans. Their love story spanned 43 beautiful years, a testament to their unbreakable bond and mutual devotion.
Together with Adela, Garry built a loving family, including his two children, Christina and Scott, and his adored grandson, Gabriel. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was a beacon of light and strength, guiding them through life's challenges and joys with unwavering support. Garry's brother, Kenneth Evans, shared in the family's joys and sorrows, and their bond remained strong throughout the years. Garry was preceded in death by his brothers Russell and Hiram Dunn, and their memory continued to live on in his heart.
Garry's interests and hobbies were as varied as they were passionate. He was an avid fisherman, often found casting a line off Oceanside pier, where the ocean's vastness mirrored his own depth of character. Garry was not only skilled with a fishing rod but also had a talent for mentoring young fisherman, generously sharing his knowledge and love for the craft. His woodworking and knife-making skills were a testament to his hands-on approach to life, and his creations will remain treasured keepsakes for those who received them.
Known as a social butterfly, Garry's friendly and talkative nature made him a beloved figure in his community. He had the rare ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, and his presence was a source of comfort and joy to many. His helpfulness knew no bounds; he was always the first to offer a helping hand, whether it was fixing a neighbor's fence or volunteering his time for a community project.
Garry's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives he touched with his kind spirit. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
