Obituary
Gary William Andriano, age 70, of Carpentersville, IL, passed away on June 19, 2023. He was born May 4, 1953 in Chicago, IL to his loving parents, Rocco and Naomi (née Phillips) Andriano.
Gary was a master craftsman and artisan. He was a tireless worker who was more focused on using his myriad skills to help others than to just make money for himself.
Gary found music early in life, and by the age of 16, was quite a skilled musician. He always felt at home while performing on stage. He also developed a love of books and the general pursuit of knowledge. He approached music and knowledge with passion and curiosity, and he inspired both in all three of his children.
Gary stood out from his peers with his undaunted willingness to meet any challenge, and with his desire to reach beyond his knowledge base to develop and deepen his skills and simply get the job done. Above all, Gary reveled in the art of restoring cars, and the fixing of things, both great and small. His magnum opus was a 1963 Triumph TR4 that won the national Best in Show title and first place at the Vintage Triumph Concours.
Loved ones will remember Gary as an incredibly kind and generous person, a friend to all living things. He possessed a sense of authenticity and self-assurance that set everyone who met him at ease.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Andriano. He is survived by his children, Jenna, Adam (Megan), and Nick (Shonali); siblings, Linda, John, Steve, and Laura; and grandchildren, Agatha and Max.
Interment will be private.
Final arrangements entrusted to Symonds-Madison Funeral Home. For more information, call 847-741-1128.

The first time I ever saw Gary, was at the Tropicana Swim Club, in Hoffman Estates, over by Conant HIgh School. He was singing with Roger Cordell, Jaques Delannoy and others in the band. He was singing the big hit, "Up On The Roof". I learned about swooning at that moment. He ended up being the singer in my brother Kevin's band, Tobin Star. We became friends and that lasted all our lives. I introduced him to my roommate, Jan Boatman and within a couple of years, they married! Gary ended up knowing my whole family, as did Jan. I know he's in heaven now, singing with the angels!
