Gary Keith Baker, 76, of Texas City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at his home in La Marque, Texas.
Gary was born on May 24, 1948, in Del Rio, Texas. He dedicated years of his life to his career as a refinery operator at Amoco Oil. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was an avid bowler and a lifelong fan of the Houston Astros, sharing his passion for the game with friends and family alike. Gary served in the United States Navy during Vietnam from 1966 to 1970 .
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. Baker and Carrie Born Baker, and his brother, Ricky Baker. Though his loss is deeply felt, Gary is survived by his loving wife, Jackie L. Baker, and his cherished children, Stacey Hargroue and her husband Johnny, Kelly Baker, Tanya Baker and her partner Charles, and Gary T. Baker and his wife Dana; grandchildren, Nick and Katie Hargroue, Cody Baker and his partner Harley, Kaley Baker and her partner Josue, Hannah Voelkel and her husband Garrett, and Kelsey, Carli, Skylar, Rachel, and Radley Baker. Gary is also survived by his siblings, Sheary Swain and her husband Charles, and Caroline Ivey.
A memorial visitation honoring Gary's life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Emken-Linton Chapel, located at 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway in Texas City. Gary’s presence will be profoundly missed, and he will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved him.
