Age 75, of Minooka, Illinois, formerly of Romeoville and Palos, IL, passed from this life Tuesday evening, March 25, 2025, at the Gardens of Park Pointe in Morris, IL.
Gary was born in Berwyn, IL on October 12, 1949, a son of the late Thelma (Howard) and Elmer Bates.
He retired as a Logistics Manager for Electromotive of LaGrange after many years of faithful service.
He is the beloved husband of 55 years to Linda (Watkins) Bates; loving father of the late Brian Bates (2018) and Amy (Aron) Bodoh; proud "Papa" of Austin and Alex Bodoh; dear brother of Gail (the late Jerry) Cagle and Debbie (the late Jim) Scott; many In-laws, nieces and nephews.
Gary earned an Associate's Degree from Illinois Benedictine University prior to beginning his career with Electromotive. His free time was spent enjoying his yard, pool, fishing, and golfing. However, his most favorite times were spent with family.
A celebration for Gary will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet, where all friends and relatives can gather from 1pm until Gary's Memorial service begins at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gary's name can be made to: St. Jude's at stjude.org or Reclaimed at reclaimedcharity.org.
