Gary Wayne Baumunk, a devoted family man, lifelong hard worker, and one of the funniest people you could ever meet, peacefully departed this world on December 9, 2025. Born on January 3, 1949, Gary lived a life defined by perseverance, humility, and an unmistakable sense of humor. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he carried the values he learned in service into every chapter of his life.
Gary worked tirelessly throughout his life in a variety of hands-on, practical jobs in the Terre Haute, Indiana area. He took great pride in providing for his family and was respected by all who worked alongside him for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.
His humor was one of his greatest gifts. Gary had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him laugh—whether with a quick one-liner, a playful joke, or simply his warm, spirited presence. His laughter was contagious, and he brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Family was the cornerstone of Gary’s life. He is survived by his beloved children: Angela (Scott) Gallagher, Melissa (Aaron) Rauguth, Brett G. Baumunk, Scott (Chelsea) Baumunk, and Carly (Timmy) Pratt. He was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren, whose lives were brightened by his warmth, humor, and guidance.
Gary is also survived by his siblings Richard, Terry, Beverly, and Brenda, and he is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Evangeline Baumunk, his brother Patrick, and his twin sister Patricia, who passed shortly after birth, as well as his sister Gloria.
