RUTLAND- Gary Howard Begins, 73 of Rutland and formerly of Burlington passed away Sunday August 17, 2025 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born on July 1, 1952 in Winooski, Vermont to Howard and Theresa (Therrien) Begins.

Gary grew up in Burlington prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his Honorable discharge, he returned to Burlington where he operated an autobody shop for several years and had also been employed as a plumber.

Gary loved motorcycles. He rebuilt and restored his own Harley Davidson. He also loved the beaches of Florida and the mountains of Vermont; along with his best furry friend Bear.

Gary is survived by his wife Josephine whom he married on July 14, 2018; his daughter Jackie Crady-Rice and her husband Marcus; his granddaughter Chelsea Johnson and her husband John; his great grandson Korbin; 2 step-daughters Sandra Loseby and Brenda Burke; 2 stepsons Jeff Burke and Casey Burke, along with several grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews.

There will be no public services at this time.
