Gary Lee Blake
75, of Vandergrift, died Saturday December 7, 2024 in his son's home. He was born in New Kensington on November 20, 1949 to the late Van Buren and Vivian Ross Blake and had been a life long resident of the local area.
Mr. Blake was an Army Veteran and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Lower Burrell. He worked as a mailman in Ford City for 28 years. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator for Davison's Sand and Gravel, Kittanning and as a high lift operator for the satellite plant in Springdale. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, sitting on his swing on his back porch, road trips in his truck, his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
He is survived by his four children Gary (Angela) Blake of Apollo, Jason (Amber) Blake of Fairfield, CA., Alicea (Alexander) Messmer of Lower Burrell, Amanda (John Wharton) Blake of Vandergrift, five grandchildren Abigail, Alexis, Madison, Andrew and Jameson Blake, brother Vernon (Judith) Blake of New Kensington and Karen Kleckner of Lower Burrell.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rose Valjean Hooks Blake.
Friends will be received Friday from 3-6 PM at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Rd. at Alder St. where a prayer service will be said Saturday at 10:30 AM followed by funeral service at 11 AM in Bethel Church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations made in his name to the Bethel Children's Summer Camp, 150 Alder St., Lower Burrell, 15068. www.RusiewiczFH.com
