Gary Russell Blankenship was born November 6, 1951, in Sherman, Texas to Cletus Russell "C.R." Blankenship and Carmen Leta Swindle Blankenship. He passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in Denison, Texas at the age of 72 years.
Gary married the love of his life Patricia Hodge on July 3, 1975, in Denison, Texas. They made a home with their son, Jason.
Gary was a long-time employee of the Union Pacific Railroad, doing many jobs over his long career. He also raised cattle out on the ranch. He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church in Denison.
Gary leaves behind his beloved family wife of 48 years, Pat Blankenship of Denison; son, Jason Blankenship and wife Jami of Denison; sister Judy Taylor of Sherman, numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, CR and Carmen Blankenship, and brother, Terry Blankenship.
Graveside Services will be held 11am Monday, April 29, 2024, at Cherry Mound Cemetery in Denison, Texas with Pastor Delbert Vest officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcelino Cruz, Moises Cruz, Kerry Blankenship, Roger Nowlin, Jeff Sampson, and Robert Johns. Family and friends will gather to visit from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison.
