Gary E. Boggs

Gary Elwyn Boggs was born in Lubbock, Texas on April 24,1968 to Garland and June Boggs. On December 14,2024, Gary passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Garland Boggs; mother, June Boggs; stepfather, Lloyd Hamilton and grandparents, Ernest and Myrtle Boggs and Curtis and Shirley Smith. He is survived by a son, Erik Boggs of Crane; daughter, Tamara Huffman of Canyon; grandsons, Fabian and Elric of Canyon; sisters, Linda Rowe of Wolfforth, Rhonda Guerry of Knoxville, Tennessee and Dena Baker and husband, R.D. of Levelland; along with five nieces, two nephews, seventeen great nieces and nephews as well as extended family members by marriages and many cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 27,2024 at Krestridge Funeral Home, followed by visitation in the foyer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.

 The youngest of four children, Gary grew up in Levelland. In his youth, he played organized football and baseball and enjoyed staging military battles with miniature soldiers, which led to a lifelong interest in history and the military. Gary graduated from Levelland High School in 1986. In the ensuing years he became a skilled welder and painter of commercial oilfield equipment. In his many years in this profession, Gary garnered a reputation as one of the best welders and painters in the area. Years later Gary settled in the Dallas area to help his sister care for their aging mother. He was a faithful and loving father, son and brother.

Gary had a sharp wit and could have everyone in the room doubled over in laughter. He loved to study historical events, particularly the military and through the years became a master modeler of military equipment and historical figures. He entered models in area and state-wide competitions, earning many gold medals. He thoroughly researched the history around each model and brought significant detail to his work that others failed to produce, resulting in him taking first place and best in show on a routine basis. One model was featured in a British modeling publication. He enjoyed a recent trip to a Bigfoot Museum in Georgia and never missed an episode of his favorite TV shows featuring the search for this elusive creature, which he completely believed exists. Gary was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching the Dallas Stars. He loved America and was a genuine patriot, proudly flying the American flag at his home.

Gary was as genuine person as you would ever meet. He would converse on just about any subject and had a gift for articulating facts and minutia. He had exceptional artistic talents and was a perfectionist in anything he undertook. He loved his family above everything and that included his two beloved dogs, Bear, his Rottweiler and later, Mattie, his black Lab. Wherever Gary went Bear and Mattie went. They never left to side. Gary loved all animals and could not tolerate seeing any animal being abused or suffering in anyway. Gary was a kind man with a big heart. He is deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
