Gary Edward Burlock Jr., 55 of West Haven, passed away on March 28, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born on December 28, 1969, in
Milford, CT, to the late Gary Edward Burlock Sr. and Mary Burlock.
Gary proudly served in the United States Navy before beginning his career at the V.A. Hospital of West Haven, CT, where he worked as a housekeeper and carpenter for over 13 years. Through his dedication and hard work, he achieved his dream of owning his own home-a place he took great pride in fixing up and maintaining. A true handyman at heart, he enjoyed learning new skills, from electrical work to plumbing, always eager to tackle a new project.
Gary had a deep love for gardening and found joy in caring for his plants. He was also an animal lover, especially devoted to his cats. A lifelong car enthusiast, he spent time researching and admiring different models, with a special fondness for his red Corvette, which he loved cruising around town.
Above all else, Gary's greatest pride and joy was being a father to his daughter, Alicia Rose. He cherished every moment with her, always eager to spoil his "Princess" and make her feel special. Known for his quick wit and love of dad jokes, Gary never missed an opportunity to make his family laugh. He goofed around and kept everyone smiling up until his very last day.
Gary is survived by his beloved daughter Alicia Rose Kavanah, his first love and mother of his child Tammie Gural, his two honorary daughters Sara and Selena Gural, his "grandbaby" Malia Rivera. As well as many additional beloved family, friends, and his V.A. family.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to the V.A. Hospital of West Haven, CT, for their compassionate care during his illness, and the friendships he formed during his career.
Private services will be held by the family.
