Gary Richard Croy

Mr. Gary Richard Croy age 54, of Rome, Georgia, sadly passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025, At a local medical facility.

Gary was born in Rome, Georgia on June 27, 1971, and was the son of the late Ernest Richard Croy and Rosa Mae Croy. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Croy, and his two sisters, Helen York and Alice Garza.

Those left to cherish Gary's memory are his loving sister and her husband Ava & Lee Davenport; his loving niece and her husband Leigh-Ann and Nick Trammell; his brother-in-law Chris Davenport; his sister Cathy Ely; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Gary graduated from high school through the special education program and later attended the Network Day Service Center. His time there was incredibly meaningful, as it helped him build strong interpersonal and employment skills, and he formed lasting friendships with those around him.

He had a larger-than-life personality that brought energy into every room. A true fan of action-packed entertainment, he loved watching WWE, The Dukes of Hazzard, and just about any movie or TV show filled with excitement and adventure. He had a zest for fun and always looked forward to his favorite things in life.

Pizza was his ultimate comfort food, and he would have gladly eaten it every single day if given the chance. Holidays brought him so much joy, especially Christmas, which he celebrated with childlike wonder. And as soon as the holiday season ended, he would immediately begin talking about the next big celebration-his birthday.

He will be remembered most for his incredibly sweet, happy, and joyous spirit. His smile and laughter drew people to him, and being around him was always a blessing. He made life brighter for his family and friends, and his memory will continue to do the same. Gary was very loved, and he will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Gary on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 4:00pm, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
