Gary David Mullinix, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 24, 1941, in Indianapolis to Thomas Clarence Mullinix and Dorothy Mildred (Griffin) Mullinix.
Gary was a devoted family man whose life revolved around those he loved most. Everything he did centered on his family, and he was happiest when surrounded by them. The love of his life was his wife, Terri—they shared 64 years together, 62 of those in marriage, building a lifetime of love and strength that will live on through their children and grandchildren.
Fishing was Gary’s passion, and it was something he carried with him all his life. No matter the season or circumstance, he found joy and peace in casting a line and being near the water.
In his younger years, Gary faced struggles like many do, but through faith he found renewal. He turned his life around when he gave his heart to the Lord, and from that point on he lived as a man grounded in his Christian beliefs. His faith brought him strength and purpose, shaping the way he treated others—with kindness, generosity, and forgiveness. It gave him the steady foundation to become the husband, father, and grandfather his family so deeply admired.
Known for his willingness to help anyone with anything, Gary never hesitated to lend his time or skills to others. His family remembers him as the jewel of a father, a proud grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather who poured himself into every generation that followed.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Terri; his sons Shane (Mary), John Wayne (Tina), James (Terri), and David Allen (Tammy); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, Thomas and Dorothy Mullinix; eight siblings; his son, Joseph Mullinix; and his grandsons, Joseph Lee and Ryan.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Tabernacle of Faith, 2830 S Holt Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46241. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM at the church, with burial immediately after at Acton Cemetery.
