Gary Joseph Dean
Age 78, of Breckenridge, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
Gary was born April 2, 1946, in Saginaw, the son of Albert and Rachael "Grace" (O'Toole) Dean. He graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1965. Gary married Susan Myers on April 23, 1966, at St. Patrick Ryan Catholic Church. He worked for Eaton Corp. until his retirement and then worked locally for Silers Market and B & W Car Wash, now Boland Tire. Gary was a member of St. John the 23rd Parish and the AFL-CIO Union. He enjoyed coaching little league, playing cards, watching NASCAR, feeding squirrels, playing golf with his sons, going to Higgins Lake and having a cold beer at Duffys.
Gary is survived by his wife Susan, children Jeff Dean, Kevin (Derica) Dean, Melissa (Adam) Conn, grandchildren Aidan, Olivia, step-grandchildren Paula (Kristoffer), Olivia (Callahan), Enrique, step-great granddaughter Dorothea, siblings Ann (Chet) Gensch, Ed (Deb) Dean, June (Mike) Pentrich, Mary (Dan) DeRosia, Linda (Bob) Anguiano, Bill (Linda) Dean, Tom (Patti) Dean, Colleen Wertz, Don (Marie) Dean, Bernie (Jill) Dean, Debbie (Russ) Willett, sisters-in-law Peggy Dean, Connie (Ray) Hunt, Lori (Jim) Taylor and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bob Dean, mother and father-in-law Lyle and Elinor Myers and brother-in-law Tim Wertz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 1 pm at St. Patrick Ryan Catholic Church. A family interment will follow Mass at St. Patrick Ryan Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 am until time of Mass at St. Patrick Ryan Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Breckenridge/Wheeler Rescue Squad.
