Gary Dean "AKA: Hot Dog" Downs, 64, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Liberty Hospital.
Gary was born on November 6, 1959, in Orrick, the son of James Robert and Virginia Elizabeth (Stillwell) Downs. He was united in marriage to Linda Kay Phillips of Kearney on September 3, 1983; she preceded him in death on July 21, 2023.
Survivors include: son, Troy Brockman of Kearney; two brothers, James M. (Patricia) Downs of Richmond and Bill Downs of Orrick; and sister, Terry Downs of Richmond.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gary was preceded in death by his brother, David Wayne Downs, three sisters, Pat Downs, Pam Downs, and Debbie Downs.
Gary was raised and educated in the area of his birth, where he developed a lifelong love for music, family, and his favorite hometown sports teams. He also loved singing and playing guitar, where Gary's passion for Elvis Presley was unmistakable. He enjoyed sharing his love for music with his friends and family. He was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on.
Gary cherished every moment with his beloved wife and found immense joy in spending quality time with his nieces and nephews. Whether it was sharing a laugh or watching cartoons with his nephew-especially their favorite, Paw Patrol-Gary's warmth and playfulness left a lasting impression on those around him. His family and friends will deeply miss his loving spirit and the joy he brought into their lives.
