Gary Lee Elhard
BISMARCK - Gary Lee Elhard, 79, passed away on April 20, 2024 at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, ND.
Gary was born June 26, 1944 in Kulm, ND to Henry and Olinda (Kalmbach) Elhard. He was one of eight children. Gary was raised and attended school in Jud, ND. He moved to Jamestown in 1964 and was employed at Midwest Motors. He later had his own auto business, "Meier & Elhard", for 6 years.
In 1989 he moved to Mandan where he was employed at Bill Barth Ford for 25+ years before retiring. In 1996 Gary married Carol Danrot. They resided near the Missouri River at Jetty Beach in south east Mandan. They are members of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck.
Gary's hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, woodwork, coin collecting, furniture building and gardening.
Gary is survived by his wife, Carol Elhard; stepchildren, Dana Hendricks, Jason Hoffman and Jeff Hoffman; two grandsons, Troy Elhard, Jamestown, and Eric (Erika) Elhard, Buchanon, ND; great-grandson, Erneson Elhard, Buchanon, ND; brother, Duane (Mary Ann) Elhard, Jud, ND; sister, Linda (Marlo) Quam, Tulna, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by Delores (Bob) Sheppard, Seattle, WA; Florence (Duane) Schuldheisz, Yuma, AZ; Jane (Gene) Babb, Jamestown; Mavis (Leon) Presser, Jamestown; Yvonne (Edwin) Mayer, Oakes, ND; his daughter, Lee Ann (Dave) Marquez, parents, Henry and Olinda Elhard.
As per Gary's wishes there will be no funeral service.
