Gary Fiegel Obituary
Gary James Fiegel, 62, of Bethlehem, PA peacefully passed at dawn on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at his home in his wife's gentle care. Gary was the beloved husband and "Endless Love" of Linda Beth Norris- Fiegel, whom recently celebrated 32 years of marriage together, having married on January 18, 1992.
Born in Bethlehem, Gary was the devoted son of Jean (Remo) Mitchell of Womelsdorf, PA. His life was ultimately characterized through two words: love and service. Before graduating high school, Gary served as a passionate member of the community, organizing events for local school clubs and assisting his grandfather, the late Stephen Remo, in some of Remo's civic responsibilities as Assistant Fire Chief at Bethlehem Fire Department. A 1980 graduate of Liberty High School, Gary entered the United States Air Force and served as Law Enforcement at Ramstein Air Base in Ramstein, Germany and Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Oklahoma from 1980 to 1984. During his honorable service, Gary earned the rank of Staff Sargent (E-5) as a Non-Commissioned Officer while serving both as a Crime Prevention Officer and ranking member on an Anti-Terrorism Task Force; additionally, Gary was recognized as Top Cop in the USAF 86th Security Police (1981) alongside various commendation medals and accolades.
His lifelong love for music carried him beyond his military career into work with the award-winning Osmond family at the Osmond Family Theater in Branson, MO and across the nation. Gary's talents in music, performance, and entrepreneurship afforded him opportunities to work closely with Marie Osmond in helping to establish the Children's Miracle Network and Telethon with his original song, "For The Children," among many other related projects & shows with the Osmond Brothers. Serving on several boards and in numerous leadership roles, Gary's trials, successes, and passion spurred the creation and collaboration of multiple ventures and organizations - such as First Night Bethlehem, the Family Success Network, Miller Heights Talent Show, Lehigh Valley Idol, Pocono Idol, SingStrong, 4 The Art of It, and Genuine Caring - that promoted family values, non-profit service, artist development, and performing arts. His faith and volunteerism led him into membership and service through organizations such as the Scottish Rite Freemasonry (as a 32nd Degree Freemason), Minsi Trails Council in Northampton & Lehigh Counties, New Bethany Ministries of Bethlehem, PA, Pennsylvania Songwriters Association, Every 15 Minutes of the Lehigh Valley, Tails of Valor Paws of Honor Program in Coopersburg, PA, Hellertown Historical Society in Hellertown, PA, Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem, PA, which included volunteer coordination in the annual Christmas Putz.
The penultimate - and everlasting - chapter of Gary's life was defined by his 37-year partnership with Linda Norris-Fiegel, who was his second-half in romance, voice, song, dance, business, and love; known both as "Perfect Touch" and "Norris & James," their duo was comprised of both original & classic songs and performances created to inspire love, hope, joy, and peace for fans and listeners of all ages for over 3 decades. Gary's personal pastimes included watching a Phillies game on a sunny afternoon, songwriting/music with his daughter, tracking his first son Stephen's cross-country flights, philosophical conversations with his second son Chris, long evening drives along the backroads of Pennsylvania, enjoying the company of his grand-pup, Apollo, and exploring the possibilities of joy, laughter, and love in any worthwhile adventure with his close friends and family - the noble, imperfect pursuits of a life lived completely in the spirit of truth, honor, and love.
In addition to his wife and mother, Gary is survived by his three children: Stephen Fiegel and daughter-in-law Emily (Webber) Fiegel of Hooksett, NH, Christopher Fiegel of Bethlehem, PA, and Faith Fiegel of Nashville, TN. Additional surviving members of the family include: his brother, Gordon Fiegel and sister-in-law Melissa (Engleman) Fiegel of Bethlehem, PA; sister Vicki (Fiegel) Yeh and brother-in-law Andrew Yeh of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister Deidre Fiegel-Hersh and brother-in-law Andrew Hersh of Nazareth, PA; sister Barbara Augello of South Carolina; aunt Victoria (Remo) Scudner and her husband Frank Scudner of Womelsdorf, PA; aunt Constance (Remo) Easterly and her husband William Easterly of Salisbury, PA; former wife Veronica (Hahn) Hendricks of Easton, PA and her son Brandon Kutos, his wife Jenna (Huber) Kutos, and their son, Ryker Kutos of Bethlehem; many nephews, nieces, and other extended family and close friends. Gary joins his trusted friends in the late Pastor Hopeton Clennon and Martin Di Maria in Heaven to keep a kind, patient, loving watch over all of their loved ones.
