Gary L. Foldenauer, 65, of South Bend, IN, passed away unexpectedly, at 6:50 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2024 in his home.
He was born on July 29, 1958 to Lee and Dorothy (Landman) Foldenauer in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Foldenauer.
Gary graduated in 1976 from Marian High School in Mishawaka, IN. He was currently employed at Voyant Beauty in Elkhart, IN, where he worked as a Line Mechanic for the past six years.
On August 9, 1980, he married Peggy S. Piatkowski at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, IN. Gary is survived by his loving wife of over 43 years, Peggy S. Foldenauer of South Bend, IN; his father, Lee Foldenauer of South Bend, IN; two daughters, Anna (Cameron) Riewe of Mishawaka, IN; Emily (Aaron) Troutmiller of South Bend, IN; two sons, Neil (Lauren) Foldenauer of Mishawaka, IN; Joey (Haley) Foldenauer of Chicago, IL; one grandson, Jack Troutmiller of South Bend, IN; a brother, Scott (Kathleen) Foldenauer of Kalamazoo, MI; and nieces & nephew, Gail, Helen, and Sam Foldenauer.
Gary was a long-time member of Corpus Christi Parish. He was a huge Green Bay Packer fan, loved listening to blues music, coaching his children's sports teams, had a great sense of humor, and was very mechanically inclined- he could fix anything. Gary was a great husband, father, grandfather, and role model who always put his family first. He loved everything Christmas and enjoyed two-day celebrations with his family; he also always looked forward to Pizza Sundays with his family.
A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024, followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2822 Corpus Christi Drive, South Bend, IN. Cremation will follow. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, IN, at a later date.

I recall his mother talking about him but did not know him personally. I worked with his mom Dorothy at OB GYN Associates years ago. She was a wonderful person, and I am certain her son was as well. I am so sorry for your loss. Cindy Owens

Great guy gone to soon. During shift change I would always ask Gary what he messed up that day just messing with him. Always put a smile on his face. He is most certainly missed by his coworkers.

At work Gary and I over ran a barrel of concentrate. It was gushing like when the Jed Clampetts struck oil. I was so mad at first but before long we were both laughing. Gary was NOT a mechanic !! He was a landscaper at heart. Rest easy. And remember bullet in the pocket my friend. Bullet in the pocket.
