Gary L. Frech, age 81, a longtime resident of Riverside, NJ, passed away on February 18, 2025.
Born at Zurbrugg Hospital in Riverside, NJ on November 27, 1943, to Ruth A. (née Dilts) and Warren Frech, he was raised on Main Street in Bridgeboro, NJ. Gary graduated from Riverside High School, class of 1961. He proudly served in the United States Army immediately following his graduation.
Gary worked at Hoeganaes Corp. in Cinnaminson and subsequently served as a bartender at the White Eagle Tavern where he met Sandy whom he would later marry on March 1, 1975. He started his own business, Frech Foods, specializing in snack foods, and was the local distributor for Charles Chips based in Delanco, NJ, and became well-known throughout the area as the "Charlie's Chip Guy" and the "Chip Man." He then enjoyed a successful career in car and truck sales with roles at Delran Ford, Lucas Ford, and many years with Miller Ford & Lincoln in Mt. Holly, NJ until his retirement in 2015.
He was a volunteer fire fighter and member of the Delran Fire Company No. 1 in Bridgeboro, and was a proud member of VFW Post 3020, the Polish American Citizens Club, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 279 in Delran.
Gary loved life and had many hobbies, particularly anything involving speed. In his younger days, he loved Corvettes, owning a few in the 1960s. He also enjoyed racing boats and piloting a Cessna 150. He later went on to sponsor a sprint car, and was a devoted NASCAR and Sprint Car fan attending many races over the years. His enthusiasm for trains led him to collect Lionel and LGB trains. His favorite singer was Elvis Presley and often listened to him when he wasn't tuning in to talk radio. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading newspapers, books, and magazines, with Garfield the Cat being his favorite comic strip. Most evenings he could be found watching MeTV and most recently thoroughly enjoyed the "Mounty" show (When Calls the Heart) and Yellowstone.
Gary was predeceased by his loving parents, Ruth A. & Warren Frech, his beloved wife of 35 years, Sandra C. Frech (née Freynik), and his dear siblings, Harold Frech, Linwood Frech, Marvin Frech, and Ruth Williamson.
He leaves behind his devoted daughter, Raquel N. Frech, his cherished grandson, James F. Burns, V, and James's fiancée, Megan A. Rohloff. Gary is also survived by his best dog pals, Buddy and Wiley, as well as nieces, great-nieces, a great nephew, and extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Gary's life on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by his memorial service at 11:00 AM, all at the WEBER FUNERAL HOME, 112 Broad Street (River Rd.), Riverton, NJ 08077.
