Gary Galwith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maupin Funeral Home - Fulton on Dec. 17, 2025.
Gary Wayne Galwith, 74, of Fulton, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the University of Missouri Hospital, surrounded by those he loved.
He was born on February 27, 1951, in Fulton, Missouri, to the late Clarence Leo and Lucille (Salmons) Galwith Case. Gary was united in marriage to Dianne (Felter) Galwith on November 17, 1973, and together they built a life rooted in love, family, and devotion.
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army from April 21, 1971, until his honorable discharge in April of 1973.
Throughout his working life, Gary was known for his strong work ethic and kind heart. He was employed by LaCrosse Lumber from 1977 to 1988, the Missouri Highway Department from 1988 to 1999, and Fulton State Hospital from 1999 to 2007 as a security aide. From 2007 until 2025, he worked in disability services. During his time at Fulton State Hospital, the patients adored him and fondly called him "the Candy Man," a nickname that reflected his generosity.
Gary was deeply loved by his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing with his wife and children, spending time outdoors, and tinkering with anything he could fix or improve. Above all else, Gary was incredibly proud of his children and made sure they always knew how much they meant to him.
Those that remain to cherish his memory are, his wife, Dianne; children, Jennifer Adams, Larissa Dee (Nick), Alex Galwith; sisters, Carolyn Alexander, Naomi Vickery, Dixie Barber; grandchildren, Randall Adams, Kristen Putnam (Justin), Abbagail Lansford, Joshua Moctezuma, Julia Moctezuma, Kyler Galwith; great grandchildren, Tucker Putnam, Chase Jones; nephews, Jeremy Alexander, Daniel Robinson (Mary), Mathew Galwith, Jimmy Dietz, Donnie Dietz, and nieces, Charlotte Vassallo, Chrystal Meadows (Shandon), and Jackie Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cassandra "Sandy" (Felter) Moctezuma, sisters, Linda Robinson and Clara Porter, and niece, Marilyn Curry.
Memorial services will be held at new Hope Baptist Church on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to American Cancer Society, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251.
