Gary Gill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haisten McCullough Funeral Home on Aug. 20, 2024.
Gary William Gill was born Jan 4, 1955 in Youngstown Ohio to Harry and Dorothy Gill. Raised in Conneaut, Ohio, he is one of 4 children. He and his family moved to Griffin, Georgia, in Jan 1982. He passed peacefully at Brightmoor Hospice at the age of 69 on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
From a very young age, Gary had an affinity for cars. Starting in his dad's dealership at the age of 8, he was fascinated with anything that had to do with cars. In 1987, he opened his own automotive repair business, Gill's Garage and later, his brother Roger, joined him. He was well known among his fellow shop owners and his customers for his diagnostic ability. He loved fixing the cars that 'no one could fix' and always stated that even though cars have a lot of electronics, they are still mechanical. The family will tell you that he even fixed cars over the phone! One of his favorite things to say was 'if I can't fix it, then it isn't broke!'
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Trudy Hudson Gill, sons, Gary Jr (Jennifer), Travis (Danielle) and Christopher (Kathryn); mother, Dorothy; brother Roger (Connie); 7 granddaughters and one grandson; brothers in law, Leroy (Jane), Dennis; sisters in laws April (Mike), Judy; lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, and daughter Angela. He is preceded in death by his father, Harry, his younger sister, Janet and her husband Robert, his youngest brother, David, as well as his mother-in-law, Donna Hudson.
The family would like to thank Brightmoor Hospice staff for their unwavering support and care.
Memorial services for Gary William Gill will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Trinity Methodist Church, 501 West Broad Street, Griffin, Ga. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:45 PM at the church. Inurnment will follow in the Griffin First United Methodist Memorial Garden 1401 Maple Drive Griffin, GA.
The family request in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Trinity Methodist Church or Bightmoor Hospice.
