Gary Halladay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jul. 25, 2024.
Gary Lynn Halladay, 81 of Reed City, passed away on July 21, 2024.
Gary was born on December 21, 1942, to Robert and Irene Halladay of Reed City.
After working many jobs, in automotive and body shops, Gary finally decided he wanted to own and operate his own business. Using his machinist skills, he opened G. Halladay Co. and that kickstarted his career.
Gary also was a high school ladies softball coach for many years. Gary helped teach hunters safety classes and then helped as a leader of the Osceola County Bad Toads shooting sports and taught so many young kids how to properly use and shoot BB guns and pellet guns.
Music was also a passion of his. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing. Gary and his brothers had started a band Dave and the Drifters, and enjoyed playing in bars, wedding receptions, and other events, such as Ashton Days.
Gary met the love of his life Barbara Hamilton, and they were married, and went on to have seven children together, Jean, Julie, Paul, Janet, Jennifer, Mark, and Jill.
In 2012, Gary retired and spent his time playing with his dog Lacey, and fishing at as many lakes as he could with his canoe and camping. Hunting with a recurve bow was his favorite hobby. Gary had time to go hunting bear again after retirement. This had been a lifelong passion of his, and he finally was able to go on a few bear hunting trips with his grandkids and friends. The last trip he went was to the Upper Peninsula with his son Mark, where he finally was able to harvest a big black bear with his bow.
Gary was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Irean Halladay, brothers Bud and Bruce, wife Barbara, son Paul, daughters Jean, and Julie, and son-in-law Thaddeus (Ted) Brahman, along with two grandchildren Ashley, and Jesse. He is survived by David Halladay, Sandy Romine, Janet Ringler (Brian), Jennifer Brahman, Mark Halladay, and Jill Trullinger (Kent). Along with many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Gary will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him. Services have not yet been determined at this time.
