Gary, the son of Densell and Rozene Handley was born November 16, 1945, in Little Rock Arkansas and was the oldest of 9 children. He loved playing little league and Class E baseball and loved playing in the end field and hitting the ball. He was a Northern High School Alumnus and worked for Buick City a Division of General Motors Corporation, where he retired with over 32 years of hard work and service.
Gary loved working at General Motors, and all the friends that were there that he had met over the years, many of whom had become like family. Every Friday he would pick up his daughter Raycoa for daddy and daughter day at A&W on Clio Road, where they would enjoy two hotdogs one with red sauce and one with coney sauce and a root beer each and would sit there for hours, just talking laughing and eating together. This was their special bonding time and they both looked forward to it. He was an amazing father and provider and enjoyed game nights and their weekends together.
Gary was a lover of fine automobiles his favorites were Corvettes, Cadillacs and Camaros. He was a Jazz connoisseur who played his tunes for hours on end around the house and an Artist who loved to create great art works. He loved to create Jazz playlist of his favorite jazz artists and share them with everyone he came in contact with to make them smile and catch a vibe and often was asked for these list by coworkers at his job. He took pride in creating the ultimate list for them, and love to see their reactions to the music he made for them. If you rode with him anywhere he would fill your soul with all of his favorite tunes he had added to the never ending playlist. Gary was a Pitmaster who would cook up some delicious barbecue upon request and include his special recipe for his barbecue sauce and home brewed sun tea that he would blend and brew for hours outdoors.
Gary met his love and companion, Brenda in 1997 at work, where she learned of a jazz playlist that was circulating around the shop that Gary had added to cars he serviced and she followed the music to the Man who would soon become her life partner and the two begin their journey together where the two blended the families giving him 2 more bonus sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren that he would love, adore and treat as if they were his own. He was a family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, family and friends. Gary loved all sports but especially basketball, baseball and football. His favorite teams were Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Pistons. Gary was also a dapper dresser, collector of Stacy Adams, loved concerts, watching countless movies with the love of his life Brenda and making sure his yard was meticulously taken care of all the times.
