Gary Handshumaker Obituary
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at Pleasant Grove #3 Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Donn Purcell will officiate. Pallbearers are John Hancock, Stan Denney, David Taylor, Russell King, Rick Denney, and Doug Long.
Gary was born on November 10, 1938 to Lloyd and Bernice (Nance) Handshumaker in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Lana Duck on July 6, 1984 in Decatur. Gary retired from Wise Electric Co-Op as a construction worker. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Donald and Lloyd Handshumaker; and his sister, Carol Handshumaker.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Lana Handshumaker of Alvord; 2 daughters, Karen Hancock and husband John of Bowie and Kristen Taylor and husband David of Muenster; his son, Gary Lee Handshumaker, Jr. of Azle; his step-sons, Rick Denney and wife Michelle of Chico and Stan Denney of Arlington; his step-daughter, Kim Covarrubias of Lewisville; his brothers, Dale, Steve, and Mike Handshumaker all of Coffeyville, Kansas; his sisters, Sharon Caulkins of Coffeyville, Kansas and Bettie Hill of Naperville, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
