Gary Collins Hawley was taken from us suddenly in Huatulco, Mexico on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
Gary leaves behind his loving wife, Sheila, his step children David (Kelly), Joy (Mike), Patricia (Scott), and Susan (Albert). He will be missed by his family Madeline (Don), Sonni (Cammie), Wanda (Carl), Roger, Melodie (Ray), sister in laws Eva and Maryama, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandson, very close friends Ros and Terry & Cindy and many other close and dear friends.
Born in Belleville, ON, Gary’s Mum & Dad moved to Golden, BC when he was two, where he grew up and attended school. When Gary was fifteen they relocated to Alberta where Gary decided he would rather work than go to school. He held several different jobs and then decided he liked driving truck. So his trucking career began. Gary worked with several companies, Handel Transport being one of them. He was diagnosed with cancer when he was 25. Gary being Gary overcame all the obstacles and hurdles and went back to work driving truck. He accepted a position with Samuel then Wilkinson and lastly LMS until he retired in 2022 and moved to Sylvan Lake. Gary loved working on the property by Gull Lake (even though he complained), delivering meals for Seniors, talking to people and keeping in contact with his friends and family. He will be missed enormously.
A Memorial Service will be held for Gary at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Pierson's Funeral Service Ltd., 4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta.
