Gary T. Hoke, age 81, of Hanover, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover. He was the loving husband of Lois J. (Griest) Hoke; together they shared 54 years of marriage.
Gary was born in Hanover, PA on March 2, 1943 and was the son of the late John and Mildred (Masenheimer) Hoke. He graduated from Eichelberger High School Class of 1961 and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He earned an associate's degree in engineering from Penn State University and worked for AT&T and Lucent Technologies for over 30 years. In his retirement, Gary delivered auto parts for Advance Auto Parts and NAPA Auto Parts. His greatest joy was his family, and he supported them with unconditional love. He enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and reading, and was the biggest fan of his grandchildren's sports and musical endeavors.
In addition to his loving wife Lois, Gary is survived by his children Michelle Rager and husband Benjamin, Timothy Hoke, and Michael Hoke; his grandchildren Riley Rager and wife Maddy and Adeline Fannin and husband Isaiah; his great-grandchildren Paisley, Penelope, Ezra, and Parker; and his beloved dog Molly. He was preceded in death by his stepmother Elizabeth Hoke; and his brother Kirby Hoke.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Gary's life will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00AM at the Chapel of Homewood at Plum Creek (Town Hall Entrance), 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover, PA 17331. Interment will be private. Military Honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will start the service. A luncheon will be held following the service at Homewood at Plum Creek.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary's memory may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 127 York St., Hanover, PA 17331.
