Mr. Gary Lee Holcomb

Funeral services for Mr. Gary Holcomb, 71, of Marshall, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage, Texas with Rev. Jeff Holcomb officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9-10:00 a.m. Prior to the service.
Mr. Gary Lee Holcomb was born November 9, 1952, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He passed this life August 11, 2024, in Longview, Texas. Gary was one of three children born to the marriage of Don Moses and Eula Inez Arney Holcomb. He was a graduate of South Garland High School and attended Eastville College and Angelina College.
Mr. Holcomb worked for Delta Construction as a trusted family employee for many years. He married Jan Edwards and they celebrated 21 years of marriage. Gary loved hunting, fishing, and time with friends. He and his brother Don were active in Horse Racing and enjoyed being part of traditions of the sport. He followed NASCAR, U.T. and the Cowboys. He is preceded in death by his father, Don Moses Holcomb; mother, Inez Holcomb Schrade; and step-father, Henry Schrade.
Mr. Holcomb is survived by his loving wife, Jan Holcomb of Marshall; stepsons, Chad Rawlinson and wife Joann of FL, Bret Rawlinson of OK; brother, Don W. Holcomb and wife Dorothy of DeBerry; sister, Kay Merritt of Carthage; grandson, Chad Ryder Rawlinson of FL; special friends. Sherry and Ricky Sharp, Tim Barlow and Tommy Shirley; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be D.J. Holcomb, Mike Mayfield, Bret Rawlinson, Zack Holcomb, Robert Holcomb, and Scott Holcomb.
