Gary Hutson, age 74, passed from this life on Thursday, January 2, 2025 after a courageous battle against COPD. Gary was born November 17, 1950 in Cleburne, the son of R.B. Hutson and Minerva Johnson Hutson. He attended Cleburne schools then graduated from Rio Vista High School and he was close to many friends from those years.
He married Debbie Pugh Hutson on September 14, 2004 and they enjoyed a good life together camping in their motor home, boating, and riding side-by-sides with family and friends.
Gary retired as a locomotive engineer from Burlington-Northern Santa Fe Railway. He was a people person who talked to everybody, and he was an outdoorsman who was always busy in his shop or fishing or cleaning his guns or planning to go deer hunting. He especially cared for his little dogs, Duke and Harvey. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in law, Jimmy Jones and Billy Cate, and nephew, Mark Elmore.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Debbie Hutson; son, Shawn Hutson and wife Teresa; daughter, Brandy Sorrells and husband Shawn; grandchildren, Chanci Latson and husband Bryce, Taylor Sonka and husband David, Jake Hutson and Garrett Sorrells; great grandchildren, Greyson Sonka, Blake Sonka, Lettie Latson, Porter Latson, and coming any day now, Berkley Sonka; brother, Michael Hutson; sisters, Carolyn Cate and Lynda Williams and husband Kent; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, January 6 at Rosser Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 7 at 1:00 p.m. at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery officiated by Donnie Camp. Pallbearers will be Chad Beasley, Travis Beasley, Jake Hutson, Garrett Sorrells, Tommy Sanders, and Tim Jackson.
