Gary H. Johnson, 81, of Aurora, Illinois, died peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025. He was a more recent resident at Bickford of Oswego Assisted Living but lived in Aurora, IL for the past 63 years.

In 1962 he married Barbara Dales and together they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Throughout their marriage they had 4 children and 6 grandchildren which all brought them much joy and happiness.

For many years, Gary worked hard as a mechanical engineer at several local area businesses. He especially enjoyed working with his hands. Whether it was playing golf, gardening, or yard work, he always loved to be outdoors. Having grown up on a farm with two brothers and his parents, his love of nature and good work ethics were instilled at a young age.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (of Aurora); sons, Kevin (Rebecca) Johnson (of Yorkville, IL) and Gregg (Beth) Johnson (of Lincolnton, NC); daughters, Sandy (Ken) Hardcopf (of Interlachen, FL) and Susan Johnson (of Aurora); his brother, Dennis (Chris) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lois (Hood) Johnson and his brother, Ron Johnson.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove, IL from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Lincoln Memorial Park, 675 US-30, Aurora, IL.
