Gary L. Johnstone, age 73, of Erie passed away Monday, September 29, 2025 at his home. He was born March 17, 1952 in Erie the son of the late Harry and Ellen (Sterling) Johnstone.
A 1970 graduate of East High School, Gary was retired as a Boilermaker with Riley Stoker Corp. He was a member of the Nuova Aurora Club, St. Mary’s Club, and the Cascade Club; places where everybody knew his name. He loved times spent with family and friends and was also known to root for the Pittsburgh Pirates when they were playing.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Komarnitzky) Johnstone who died in 2022 along with a sister, Barbara Johnstone.
Gary is survived by his children, Rachel Fraser (Eric) of Crucible, PA; Jill Robertson (Jeremiah) of Albion; Jerrod Johnstone (Christine) of Erie and Brandon Johnstone of Erie. He is the brother of Terri Miller (James); Janet Burkett; Sandra Sasso (David); Kathy Hennick (Bill); Ronald Johnstone (Paula); Kevin Looker; and Kenneth Johnstone.
Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services Inc., West Ridge, 3801 W.26th St. on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at which time Funeral Services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 E.10th St., Erie, PA 16503.
