Gary was born April 19, 1947, to Helen (Myrick) and Herbert Lady in Topeka, Kansas. Gary was called to be with the Lord on February 3, 2025, surrounded by his family. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1966. Shortly after graduating high school, he joined the Marine Corps. Gary served two years in the Marine Corps including one tour in Vietnam. 

Upon returning from Vietnam. He married the love of his life Joetta Lyden on July 25, 1970. Gary began his career as an electrician. Gary has been a member of IBEW #226 for 55 years. Gary worked with many companies throughout the states of Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, and California. Gary retired in 2009 while working for DL Smith at Jeffries Energy Center.

Gary enjoyed coaching his sons’ baseball teams, supporting his daughter’s gymnastic career, playing golf, and wood carving. The highlight of playing golf was the hole-in-one he made at Great Life North. Upon a well-deserved retirement, Gary enjoyed wood carving and antiquing. He loved taking a block of wood and creating a piece of art. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their events.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Joetta (Lyden) Lady; his children Chad (Dana) Lady, Jason (Stacy) Lady, and Amanda (Tyson) Wood; siblings Larry (Barbara) Lady and Rebecca (Brian) Weber; Grandchildren Paul (Serena) Lady, Karl (Amber) Kinsman, Mikayla (Patrick) Kiernan, Ashley (Brett) Miller, Hannah Lady, Austin Lady, Greg Lady, Sandra Lady, Mylaya Lady, Maya Wood, and Braiden Lady; Great-grandchildren Damon Lady, Madelynn Lady, Everett Lady, Liam Lady, and Oliver Kiernan. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Helen Lady; son James David Lady, and grandchild Matthew Sterling Lady.

Visitation will be at Parker Price on Independence Ave. on Monday, February 10, at 10:00 am. The funeral services will begin promptly at 11:00. Gary will be interred at Memorial Park Cemetery.
