Gary Robert Langenstein, 67 of Smyrna, Delaware passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Bay Health Hospital, Kent Campus, in Dover, Delaware.
Gary was born in Somers Point, NJ on February 24,1957. Gary graduated from William Penn High School in New Castle, DE. Gary was a proud United States Naval veteran who served time on the USS Independence, CV 62, on several Mediterranean Sea assignments. After serving his country, Gary spent his working years at the US Veteran's Hospital in Wilmington, DE and serving the elderly in Southern Delaware, in the Assisted Living field.
Gary had a love for motorsports and drove stock cars in the Tri State area for many years. He was passionate about studying family genealogy, preserving Motorsports history, metal detecting, coin collecting, and was an accomplished photographer. He loved going to the annual Pumpkin Run car show at Flemings in Egg Harbor Township.
Gary is predeceased by his wife Yasmine, his parents Roberta and Charles Langenstein and George Gale.
He is survived by his Langenstein siblings Charles J. Langenstein Jr. (Beth) from Charlotte, NC, Joseph F. Langenstein of Millsboro and sister Dolores Oneschuk (Jeff) of Millsboro and his Gale siblings: Anthony Gale, Donna (Kevin) Hare, and Debra (Wally) Raciti, all from Mays Landing, NJ and his two stepdaughters, Chrisie L Adams of Dover and Amanda L Wyre of Smyrna and two step-grandchildren: John and Paige, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on November 19, 2024 at 11am with a memorial service at noon at Faries Funeral Home, 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna, DE. Services at the Veterans cemetery in Sussex County will immediately follow the memorial service.
