Gary Brooks Lewis, 80 years young of Applegate Michigan passed away Saturday, January 27th with the family by his side.
Gary was a graduate of North Branch High School and then went on to graduate from Ferris State University with a degree in mechanics. Gary was never "old" a day in his life. A true gentleman and a cowboy until the end.
He was involved with many organizations, including the Peck ALR, Jackson Trailriders, Applegate Methodist Church, and many others. He loved mornings with his buddies' playing cards, trips up north to the cabin to go skiing, and traveling anywhere the road would take him. He loved hunting and fishing, and a cold beer every now and then.
He enjoyed his close friendships with the Amish whom he spent a lot of time with over the years. He loved his family beyond measure and would drop everything to be there for them. Quick-witted and honest. Strong in his faith and loved in the stands. He will always be remembered for his support for all his grandsons, whether it was blowing his bugle in the stands during football or hollering his famous line "Throw Em the Curve Ball" at baseball games.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Sherry Lewis, who loved him fiercely until the end. His son Randy (Kalinda) Lewis of Clarkston and Danyeil Smith of Capac. Stepchildren; Erin Foley of Peck and Travis and Deanna Molesworth of Melvin. Grandsons; Anthony (Xiuyan) Lewis of Japan, CJ Shabdue of Capac, Tyler West of Lima, Oh, Joel and Jake Molesworth of Melvin. Great Grandchildren; Kai and Ellie Lewis and Berlynn Shabdue. Loving sister and best friend Robin (Bob) Secson, Brother Jack (Barb) Lewis and Sister Debra (Buck) Hannah. Plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was welcomed in to heaven by his loving parents, Clifton and Vivian Lewis. His first wife and dear friend, Brenda Nagy, brother-in-law Ron Ellis and sister-in-law Barb Lewis.
Services will take place Saturday, February 3rd at the Applegate Methodist Church at 11:00am, followed by a Celebration of life at the Croswell American Legion Hall at noon.
Monetary donations can be made to the family, United Hospice of Marlette or the Applegate Methodist Church.
Arrangements in care of Jowett Funeral Home - Port Huron.
