Gary Lied, age 76, of Marshalltown, and formerly of Green Bay, WI and Michigan City, IN, passed away early morning Thursday, February 29th, at the Iowa River Hospice Home with his daughter at his side.

Born on June 26th, 1947, in Michigan, he was the son of Clifford and Thelma (Beaudry) Lied. He graduated from high school in Green Bay, WI. Mr. Lied was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and served our country honorably.
In Green Bay, he met the beautiful young Suzanne Boucher. The two were united in marriage on August 5th, 1967, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Green Bay. They made their home in Green Bay where he worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. The family moved to Marshalltown, Ia, where he continued to work for CNW and was the shop superintendent. After that he moved to Illinois, in several different cities. Then they moved to Michigan City, Indiana where he worked for Chicago south shore & South Bend Railroad as the Chief Mechanical Officer for the Freight side until retiring. In 2016, the couple moved to Marshalltown to be near their Daughter and grandkids. Gary enjoyed traveling, reading, visiting his kids and grandkids with his Suzie. Everyone loved his incredibly dry sense of humor and you know he loved you when he was making fun of you.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Carrie (Miguel) Ortiz of Marshalltown and Todd (Rose) Lied of Clarksville, TN; and grandchildren Ashli Branan, Alexus Ortega, Adie Ortiz, Jason Johnson and Eric Johnson as well as his brother, Calvin (Yvonne) of Green Bay, WI.
In death, Gary rejoined his beloved Suzie, his parents and sister, Brenda.
