Gary was born in Canton, Pennsylvania on November 16, 1947. He had an awesome childhood
with his mother, Ethyln Morgan Machmer and his father Russell Machmer. Both of his parents

family who enriched Gary's childhood.

State College where he majored in Mathematics. Gary played baseball for the college team,
continuing his studies and earned his Master's Degree. Gary taught high school mathematics
at Troy High School for 30 years and served as the Math Department Chairperson. During his
career, he coached high school volleyball and football. He also coached collegiate football and
umpired high school baseball games.
Sports were one of Gary's lifetime passions. As a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, he often
told the story of meeting Roberto Clemente! He was also an avid fan of the Tampa Bay
Lightning, attending every game. As for football, he was a converted Green Bay Packer fan!
Gary also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Being a member of Lions Club International was another important part of Gary's life. He was a

become the District Governor. Following that position, he was chosen to be the Pennsylvania
State Council Chairman. After that position, Gary served on Long Range Planning as well as

Another one of life's pleasures for Gary was his family. He was a devoted father supporting his
daughter, LaShonna, in all of her interests and activities. He was a support and friend for his
son-in-law, Ruben. He enjoyed long conversations with his sisters about past adventures and
current news. Gary was a great help to his mom-in-law Millie when she needed his sage
advice. With his wife, Gloria, he shared all of life's adventures for nearly 48 years of marriage.
He newest joy called him Papa. Archer, his two year old grandson, shared cookies and lots of
love with him.
