Gary Markert Obituary
A lifelong area resident, Gary was born on March 15, 1948 in Amsterdam, NY the son of the late Robert E. Markert and Shirley Husted Markert. He was a 1966 graduate of the former Perth Central School. Gary went on to serve in the National Guard and was employed with General Electric for 45 years until his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was also a woodworker, enjoyed playing pool and raised Great Pyrenees Dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Gail F. Pinto; his son, John Gary; his siblings, Gail, Lori and Robert S.; nieces, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 42 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. A reception will follow in the parish hall. All are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the American Legion John J. Wyszomirski Post 701, 123 W. Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
