Gary or "Homey" as he was affectionately known by his wife was a huge Simpson fan. He loved his music and hated good food. He adored Mountain Dew, Butterball turkeys (over 20 lbs) of course, Flounder, and all junk food.
He was predeceased by his parents John R. and Harriet Matthews and brother, Raymond Matthews. He is survived by his adoring wife Maryann Matthews of Union Beach, his sister Marilynn Turner of Matawan, two sons and daughter in law, Gary and Lucy Matthews of Hazlet and Joseph Lakin of Union Beach, his daughter and son in law Ariel and Timothy Penta of Middletown; his step children, Robert Dolan, Thomas Dolan, Michael Dolan, and Patty Ann Dolan. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren, Abigail Matthews, Riley Penta and Christopher Dolan and his pain in the butt dog "Layla". Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects on Friday June 10th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Avenue, Keansburg, N.J. There will be a service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or to the New Jersey Leukemia and Lymphoma Society www.lls.org
Masks are encouraged by all. Please feel free to wear anything Mets
