Gary E. Meyer of Blue Earth passed away January 20, 2026, at the age of 84. A visitation will be held from 1-3pm on Sunday January 25th at Patton Funeral Home. The family invites those who would like to share memories and stories of Gary to stay for a brief memorial service at 3pm.
Born on June 28, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA, to Louis and Evelyn (Coulter), Gary spent his life brightening the lives of those around him, whether as a dedicated TV repairman, a cherished custodian at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, or a friendly face at the Blue Earth Walmart.
Gary was not just a skilled craftsman but also a dreamer, pouring his passion into his love for RC airplanes and ultralight aviation. He founded the local model airplane club, RC Aces, and even constructed an impressive runway in a Green Giant field—an endeavor that brought joy and inspiration to aviation enthusiasts in the area. An avid camper and motorcycle enthusiast, Gary cherished the moments spent outdoors with his family, creating memories that will last a lifetime. A proud member of the community, he volunteered his time with Interfaith Caregivers, ensuring that those in need were supported. As someone who valued sobriety, Gary proudly celebrated 42 years without alcohol, continuing to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, where he became a mentor and sponsor to many, sharing his strength and wisdom.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Carolyn “Carrie” Meyer, his children; Michel Fransen of Ft. Dodge, IA, Aron (Patricia) Meyer of Oceanside, CA and Peter Meyer of Wilmer, his grandchildren; Eric, Elizabeth, Scarlett, Ashlynn and Celeste, siblings; Roger, Jim (Diane), Tom, Mike (Mary), Pat (Susan), Margaret (Ron) Landford and Joe (Murial), as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
