Gary Phillip Moore Sr., 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was surrounded by his three children. Gary, also known as "Pop Moore", was born on January 15, 1955, in Seaford, Delaware. He was the son of the late Floyd Moore Sr. and Erma Darby Moore.
Pop Moore worked for the Seaford School District for over 25 years. He was the jack of all trades, from working on oil burners to hardwood floors. He also owned his own towing company, Moore and Son Towing for 20 years.
Pop joined Blades Fire Department in 1975 and served for 19 years as a firefighter as well as an Engineer and Chief Engineer in the early 80s and Fire Police. He moved to the city of Seaford in the mid-90s and joined Seaford Volunteer Fire Department in 2005. He was also a firefighter there and then moved to Fire Police in which he served up until his passing.
Not only did he enjoy spending time at the firehouse, but he also loved hunting, fishing, and helping others. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, and he always looked forward to the holidays.
Pop is survived by his three children, son Gary P. Moore Jr. and wife Jessica Covert, son Jeremy P. Moore and wife Melania Moore, and daughter Kristen E. Moore and husband Franky VanFliet. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
