Gary Lee Pline, age 63, passed in the early morning of March 1, 2025, with his family and friends by his side in his home in Lyons, Michigan.
He was born November 16, 1961, in Ionia, Michigan to John and Catherine Pline. Gary liked to spend his time in the woods of Michigan, hunting, fishing, gardening and being amongst nature. In his youth he attended Ionia High School, graduating in 1980 he then went on to join the army, serving for a brief time before being honorably discharged. Following that, he went on to get a degree in Criminal Justice from Montcalm Community College, securing a job in the Department of Corrections where he worked from 1986 to 2022.
Gary is survived by his daughter and her partner, Colette Pline and Blaine Schafer; his son, Cody Pline; his siblings, Sue Ruehs, John Pline, and Kathy (Bruce) Kenyon; and several nephews, nieces, and very close personal friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine Pline; two of his brothers, Michael and Ken Pline; two of his sisters, Sandy Fyan and Linda Buskirk; two of his brothers-in-law, Dave Ruehs and Gordon Fyan; and one sister-in-law, Randee Pline.
Visitation will take place from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, with Pastor Ed Filter officiated.
A celebration of life will take place in honor of Gary from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12803 Keefer Highway, Sunfield, Michigan. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
