Gary Dean Russell, 68, of Phoenix, passed away on January 7, 2026.

Gary is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Debbie, whom he was married to for 48 years, daughter, Sonja Bailey (Dustin); sons Clay Russell (Danielle), and Chad Russell; grandchildren, Gianni, Mia, Ella, Brian, Mason, Donovan, and Aria.

Gary was well-known as “Poppy,” and he adored spending time watching his grandkids do what they love. He was the keeper of all knowledge, so everyone called him with any question. Gary loved to be in his workshop building and repairing just about anything for anyone. He also loved to spend time at Sweet Pond Hunting Club. He especially enjoyed taking his camper and Harley to sunny Florida during the cold months to spend time with the love of his life. He enjoyed strolling on the beach, attending Bike Week, and game time in the circus tent.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, January 13, 2025 4–7PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N Main St, North Syracuse, NY 13212, with services immediately following. A burial and celebration of life will take place in the spring.
