Gary Allen Spangler, age 85, of Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was the loving husband of Geraldine (Bosserman) Spangler; together they shared over 65 years of marriage.
Gary was born on May 10, 1936 at York Hospital. He was the son of the late Mae (Auchey) Reehling and Raymond A. Spangler. He graduated from Spring Grove Area High School Class of 1955. During his high school career, he played baseball, basketball, and track. He was employed at P.H. Glatfelter, Co., Spring Grove and retired in 2002 after 43 years of employment. He also drove school bus for Spring Grove Area School District. He was a member of the Jefferson AARP #3699, life member of the Jefferson Fire Company and York County Firemen's Association, Trails End Hunting Camp in Potter County, served on the Jefferson Council for 26 years, and was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Codorus (Jefferson), PA.
When he was younger, he played drums in the Jefferson Band and Brodbecks Band and played baseball for Jefferson and Stoverstown. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and roller skating. He loved picking fruit, taking walks, and working in his yard and flower beds. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
In addition to his loving wife Geraldine, he is survived by his two daughters Debra S. Brokenshire and husband Fred, and Diane S. Stahl and husband Steve; his grandchildren Dr. Caitlin M. Brokenshire and Cole W. Brokenshire; and step-granddaughter Stacy Spurrier and husband Mike. He is also survived by his brother Ashley M. Swartzbaugh and wife Mary; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his nephew Troy M. Swartzbaugh.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Gary's life will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 11:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6 York St., Codorus (Jefferson), PA 17311. He will be laid to rest following the service at Jefferson Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:00-11:00AM at the church. The funeral services are under the direction of Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary's memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 6 York St., Codorus (Jefferson), PA 17311, or Hospice and Community Care, 235 St. Charles Way, Suite 250, York PA 17402.

Dearest Family,
We are deeply sorry for your loss. Gary was a life-long Jeffersonian. He cared about the community and worked to make it a beautiful place to live. We will miss him. Our community is less because of his passing.
