John M. Hall Sr.

John M. Hall, Sr., age 98, of Spring Grove, passed away on February 9, 2026 at home. He was the loving husband of the late Mae J. (Weaver) Hall who passed away on May 9, 2016; together they shared over 68 years of marriage.

John was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 18, 1927 and was the son of the late John and Mary Hall and Isabelle and Carroll Robinson. He grew up in Baltimore and Freeland, MD proudly served his country in the United States Navy Fleet Air Wing PB SQD 112. John was an outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time in Clearfield County with his sons and grandsons. He also loved Westerns, especially John Wayne. During nice weather, John liked riding his electric bike through Spring Grove. He also enjoyed his mornings at Windy Hill Senior Center in Spring Grove having coffee with his friends and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. John worked for Magnestia, formerly J.E. Baker, Bailey Coach, and F&S Transportation. He was a member of the Spring Grove VFW, Shiloh American Legion, Masonic Lodge, The Scottish Rite, Windy Hill Senior Center, and Wolf's Covenant Church in York.

John is survived by his children Joann Hall and Jeff Hall; his grandchildren John Hall, III, Dalton Hall (Carissa), Logan Hall (Georgia); his great-grandchildren Emily Hall (Nick), Madison Hall and one more great-granddaughter on the way; and his great-great-grandson Parker Krystofiak. His is predeceased by his son J. Milton Hall, Jr.; his sisters Margarete, Mildren, Doris, and Emily; and his brother James.

A Funeral Service in celebration of John's life will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 11:00AM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, PA 17362. Following the service, he will be laid to rest next to his wife at St. Paul's (Wolf's) Church Cemetery in York with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00AM – 11:00AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
