Gary "Brian" Standish, 66, jokingly known by many as "Brain" a longtime Morgan County resident, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Brian was born Friday, January 31, 1958, in Rensselaer, Indiana to the late Richard Wayne and Barbara Ann (Burns) Standish.
Brian was known to have quite a corny sense of humor, he loved RC model planes, woodworking, drawing and painting, he especially adored his dog, Shelby.
He retired from Indianapolis International Airport where he worked in maintenance. Prior to working at the airport, he worked in construction.
He leaves behind a host of loving family and extended family, including his daughter Rebecca "Becky" Parsons (husband, Scott), as well as two grandsons, Cody and Dylan Parsons and bonus son, Tony DeVine. He also leaves behind his bonus daughters including Joann Stierwalt (husband, Mark); Joy Stierwalt and P.J. Fleener (husband, Brent); sisters, Bonnie Sater (husband, Tony) and Glenda Standish (husband, Dean) and his bonus daughters blessed him with eight grandchildren including, Markus, Dillon, Jaycob, Abbigayle, Dylila, Zaydrin, M.J. and Zayleigh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Geretha Rose (West) Standish, longtime companion, Debbi Stierwalt Fleener and brother, Greg Standish.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. A service celebrating Brian's life will immediately follow the visitation at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. In honoring his final wishes, his earthly remains will be cremated.
