Gary Wayne Starnes, 69, of Romney, WV passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at UPMC Hospital, Cumberland, MD.
Born on February 1, 1954 in Romney, WV, he was the son of the late Wayne Starnes and Mildred Frye Starnes.
Gary loved hunting, spending time at the river and riding his Harley. HIs kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. He had worked 37 years as a Superintendent for Shockey's and had helped his daughter and family with their business of the Trough Store. He was a member of the American Legion Post 91 and VFW, 1101.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Larry Starnes and Linda Frye.
He is survived by his children, Sabrina Dean (Jerry), Kenny Starnes, and Stacy Lambert (Tink), all of Romney, 4 grandchildren: Roscoe Dean, Sawyer Dean, Austin Shockey, and Ashlyn Clem, and his ex-wife, Peggy Starnes of Romney, who remained a friend and a big part of his life.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney, WV with Pastor Denzil Davis officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Romney, WV.
