Gary Ray Traber

STRAWBERRY PLAINS, TN – Gary Ray Traber, 69 went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 17, 2024. Born Nov. 10, 1955, he was a native Phoenician. He taught math at Greenway High School for 29 years and coached freshman football and JV baseball for 33 years. He had many fond memories of students, players, and coaches at Greenway. He was elected to the Greenway Coaches' Hall of Fame. His other interests included golf, English mastiffs, and building three homes for his family while move further west into the boonies. In 2021, he and his wife moved to Strawberry Plains, TN. Gary was greeted in heaven by his mother, Nora Jean Traber and his in-laws, Harry and Ethel Hosso. He is survived by his wife, Susann; his father, Raymond Traber; his children, Daniel (Betty) Traber and Bethany Traber; and his grandchildren Haley, Alejandro, Vicky, and Rachel Traber; and his four sisters: Connie (Rick) Curtis; Cathy (David) Chappell; Dana (Tom) Covert, and Cindy (Todd) Studts and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7;00 pm on Friday. Oct. 25th at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N 7th St Phoenix AZ, with a funeral service at the same location on Saturday, Oct. 26th at 9:30am followed by burial at 11:00am at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Serenity House, 421 N. High St, Morristown TN 37814.
