My niece was graduating high school in Mayfield and my brother sent me a pic of the Gary Trumbull memorial award. I had no idea he had passed away.
Loved him like a big brother. Lost touch after moving away, but he and I were together nearly everyday as kids in elementary until high school playing in the woods between my grandma's house and his house up the road. Truly saddened.
GO BLUE!!! my dear friend.
Sincerest condolences to his wife and kids, his father Dave, mother Dorothy and his sister Terry.

I was just doing a google search on my old Unit at Tinker AFB. I was shocked to come across the news of Gary's passing. He was one of my supervisors and we played volleyball together for the Squadron and Base teams. I learned a lot from him and can never forget his smiling face. He was sharp and a great leader. You are missed, Gary

I was just told today about Gary's passing (on Sept 1st) from a great friend of ours back in Illinois ( Shelley Hoskins ), from 1983 -1987. Those two, and my ex-wife and I did ALL things together, concerts, sports, "few beers", Laughed, loved.
Heck, Gary and I met in 1983 or so and worked hand in hand every day unloading semi-trucks through the sun, rain, and snow at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, IL. We were both teenagers and matured VERY fast, and played tennis together, racquetball, golf, Frisbee. In 1987, I went to Bitburg AB, Germany and Gary went to Belgium or Holland?. On two occasions he and some friends would drive on down and spend a few days with my wife an I. Here is a pic from circa 1989?
As you can see, MY profile pic, and Gary's cover photo are the very same. I grew up in Michigan and along with working with Gary, we had that bond of Michigan Football. I may, now, have to get Gary's name tattooed in some manner on my forearm picture of the Michigan football helmet.
GooD Lord, I just am shocked at loosing him.
My goodness, he and family survived all of those damn tornadoes and that monster one that totally his home city of Moore, OK.
May GOD comfort your soul my 'Ole friend, and please save me some football tickets so we can go to a game together again someday.
My love and prayers to you, your family, and to all that will miss you......... and M-Go-BLUE!!!! Troy

I knew Gary from elementary school and like Heather have great memories of him.
ALWAYS smiling and happy and fun to be around. Loved his Nova and remember many rides in that car.
Absolutely great guy.
Condolences to his great family.

I was stationed with Gary twice. We served in Belgium (1987-88) together, side by side as Supply and Transportation co workers. What a Blessing to then be stationed together at Tinker AFB (89-93) with the 2953.
We played varsity volleyball in Belgium and squadron intramural for CLSS. Lisa Dooley/WRIGHT was on that team and even Col. Wetzel came to watch us play. Oh Gary, what great colleague and friend !

I first met Gary 49 years ago-probably to the week, when we started kindergarten. I loved him from the moment I saw his rocket ship lunchbox and thermos. I still feel badly about chipping his tooth the night before his senior photos. I have so many random memories...the Nova with the hounds tooth interior, the green AMC wagon, how he signed all his yearbook notes with "Keep Riding the Storm Out", tennis, soup starter, dachshunds, Addidas sport...even though we hadn't corresponded since our twenties, I always remember his earnestness and sense of fun. Reading some of the comments since his passing, it seems this part of his personality is what continued to shine.

I only knew my cousin growing up when my parents came up to visit our grandparents who lived right next door too Gary. Even though he was younger I remember how happy he was playing with his sister and always being so polite and caring to those around him. I went away to join the air force and later he joined for the air force and remained in Oklahoma. I wish I could turn back time so I could have made that trip out to visit. Live is to short and he will be missed by many God Bless

Gary's employer was one of my company's vendors. For the last 3 1/2 years I had the pleasure of working with him. His emails never failed to make my day and make me laugh. I am so genuinely sad and will miss talking and working with him. My prayers to his family.

I got to know Gary when I was stationed with him at Tinker from 89-94, we were in 2953/654 CLSS Sq. Went many TDY's together. To say I'm stunned is an under statement right now in hearing about his passing. My thoughts and prayers to Karla and family. As we know, in the USAF, we had Core Values, Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in all we do, Core values define who we are, and I can say, that was Gary, thru and thru. It was an honor to serve with him, an even bigger honor, to say he was a friend.
