Gary Lee Walter, age 60, of Berkeley Springs, WV, departed this life on May 8, 2025.
He was born January 5, 1965, in Takoma Park, MD, to Fred D. Walter Jr. and Margaret L. Walter, who preceded him in death, along with his big sister, Carolyn "Sissy" Pope, whom he dearly loved.
Gary was the proud father of Gary L. Walter Jr. and Paul Hipsley, whom both survive him. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Valerie Walter, and four devoted brothers: Fred D. Walter III, Johnnie Walter, Danny Walter, and Bernie Walter, along with countless nieces and nephews.
Before life grew difficult, Gary was adventurous – full of life, love, and fun. He was a highly skilled carpenter with little he could not do. He found happiness in being silly and making others laugh. He felt most alive behind the handlebars of his motorcycle, embracing the freedom of the open road.
We hold tightly to the memory of the man he once was and pray that he has now found the peace that eluded him in life.
Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements, which will be private.
In lieu of flowers or condolences, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Lauren's Wish at Hazel House, https://laurenswish.org/.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.barlowbonsall.com.
Judge Gently
Pray, do not find fault with the man who limps or stumbles along the road, unless you have worn the shoes he wears or struggled beneath his load. There may be tacks in his shoes that hurt, though hidden away from view, or the burden he bears, placed on your back might cause you to stumble too. ~ Author – Unknown
