Gary Lance Washington, a cherished family man and esteemed member of the community, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, in Odessa, Texas. Born on September 10, 1946, in Lubbock, Texas, Gary's life was marked by his unwavering kindness and the deep love he held for his family and friends.
Gary was a proud graduate of Lubbock High School where he was not only a standout student but also a talented athlete. His athletic ability earned him scholarships in both baseball and basketball at Texas Tech University where he left a lasting legacy in the Hall of Fame.
Gary was the epitome of hardworking West Texas oil field man. He enjoyed a long career in New Development with Aegis Solutions.
He was a Godly man, family man, good man and a great friend. He was affectionately known as PePaw. Gary's greatest joy was found sitting in the bleachers of any sporting event cheering on his grandchildren and great grandchildren with pride and enthusiasm! His passing will leave a void in the hearts of many.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Lila Washington, brothers JeDon and Jimmie.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife Linda of Andrews, TX; son Cody Washington and wife Meagan of Seminole, TX; and his daughter Christi Washington of Andrews, TX. His sister, Vannoy Shaw of Justin, TX. Grandchildren Chad and Channing Hill, Colby and Casi Nix, Cameron Hill, Cooper Wester, Jaxon Washington, Cadence Wester, Ashlyn Guynes, J'Cee Washington, Hallie Guynes. Great-grandchildren Carson Luna, Callan Nix, Jaxx Washington, Braxton Hill. Numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, TX from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Means Methodist Church in Andrews, TX at 10:00am. Pastor Kevin Bushart and Pastor Rick Doyle officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Andrews North Cemetery.
