Gary Wimpey Sr., age 76, of Dalton, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harve and Martha Wimpey; wife, Joyce Ann Wimpey; sisters, Doris (Lamar) Belcher and Barbara Townsend; and brother-in-law, James Ridley.
Gary was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, Georgia Bulldog fan, and car enthusiast. Gary also loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gary Wimpey Jr. and Lyn Wimpey of Tunnel Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Steven Tibbs of Dalton; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda Ridley of Chatsworth, and Brenda and Ruel Manning of Eton; grandchildren, Taylor Dunn, Nachelle (Tylor) Bredeson, Austin (Ashlyn) Tibbs, and Landyn Tibbs; great-grandchildren, Cooper Burnette, Skye, Braxton, Izzy, and Jace Bredeson, and Kayce Tate Tibbs; special friends, Jim Ledford and a host of golf buddies; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive.
A funeral service will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM with Rev. Darey Kittle officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
