Mrs. Gayle Elaine Setchell, 91 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully in her home on the early morning of January 22, 2026. She was born to Louis and Muriel (Roepke) Pessina in Detroit, Michigan on November 15, 1934. Gayle and her husband, Robert, moved to Lewiston permanently in 1985 after his retirement. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Red Hats in Holiday, Florida. In her younger years, she loved to bake and was known to make a mean oatmeal raisin cookie. She loved knitting, watching the birds from her window, and reading a good book. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is and will be deeply missed.
Gayle is survived by her children, Deborah Carpenter, Martin (Lezlie) Setchell, Cheri Brown, and Daniel (Lisa) Setchell; grandchildren, Adam (Dee), Elysse, Alexandria (Manuel), Libby (Kameron), Josh, Megan (Nick Winn), Richard, Patrick (Kimberly), Joseph (Emily), Michael (Kelcie), Kasey; and Joel; great-grandchildren, Robert, Collin, Faith, London, Lillianna, Kenna, Scarlett, Sybil, Mabel, Lukas, Anni, Bella, Sarah, Ivan, Henry; and one on the way; sister, Cheryl (Al) Perkowski; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Muriel Pessina; husband, Robert; granddaughter, Lindsey; brother, Gary Pessina; and son-in-law, Thomas.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Gayle privately at this time.
